I took this picture this weekend in South Florida because I felt like it represented me within the counseling profession moving closer to being a school counselor. On the outside the door is older, has obviously done its job well for a while. Like me. I have been a teacher for ten years and have had lots of experience with children/adolescents throughout. But, on the other side of this door was a brand new architectural firm, full of new furniture and modern decorations, unfamiliar to the historic neighborhood. This represents my endeavours into the counseling profession, new and sort of unfamiliar still. I hope to gain the ability to use the techniques discussed in the chapter to become as seasoned a counselor as I was a teacher.
